Adiantum pedatum
Common Name: Fern - Maidenhair Fern
Deciduous. Clump-forming, fern and is most frequently found on rich wooded slopes, ravine bottoms and damp shady woods. Features finely-textured, somewhat frilly fronds which have curved stalks and are palmately-divided. Wiry stems are reddish-brown to black. Fiddle heads emerge pink in spring.
Plant Care: old fronds should be trimmed off in spring. Mulch around the plants with dead leaves in the fall, to help conserve moisture in summer. Clumps may be divided every 3 to 4 years, in early spring
