variety of fruit together in a pile

Often with no more effort than it takes to raise tomatoes or cultivate roses, you can grow your own fruit.  Don’t let lack of space or time deter you. Many species of fruits and berries take up only a small area and are low maintenance. Raspberry and Blackberry are probably the best known. They grow upward and take little space. They can be used to make borders around your vegetable garden, or along back property lines. Then there are bush bearing fruit. Blueberry bushes are attractive, compact, and fits well right in many flower beds. British Columbia’s temperate climate is ideal for growing many fruits.

When considering planting fruits, gardeners take note that many fruit are popular with birds and other animals. If you want to attract birds to your yard, small fruits may be just the answer.
